fudgester SG I bought it when I first entered NUS... that was in August 2004. So my laptop's just over two years old. And it has given me huge problems - both hardware and software. That's why I say to not buy Toshiba laptops. I would recommend Lenovo instead. All my friends who use IBM-Lenovo sing the praises of their laptops. Even though their laptops are ugly, they are highly dependable workhorses.

alexkusu SG hmm? ppl used to say toshiba is overpriced but good. How bout Fujitsu? Esp the lifebook series. Mine is a Compaq. Still going strong! Hardly have any problems with it..compared to other friends and siblings laptops (acer, toshiba, etc). Not sure issit cos the way its built or the wonderful care given by the owner. Most likely the latter

the Bear SG my VAIO died on me a few months ago.. now, wondering if i should resurrect it because only the HDD died
fudgester SG Well, replacing the hard disk costs a few hundred, tops... But then again, if you've got cash to burn, then you might want to go for a new one. Remember: say NO to Toshiba!
